There will be a benefit hamburger steak dinner on Saturday, September 13th at the New Market Community Center for cancer patient Jim Bullins. Dinner from 11:00am until 6:30pm with an auction starting at 7:00pm. Sponsored by the Sophia Support Club.

There will be a singing on Saturday, September 13th at North Moore High School near Robbins. It's a benefit to help with medical expenses for Jerry and Diane Russell. Among the performers will be Swordsmen and Amazing Grace. Baked goods and drinks will be available.

Weekday Walking, a program to promote physical activity, will take place on Mondays from September 8th through October 13th at Memorial Park in Asheboro. Walk your own distance anytime between  11:30am and 1:30pm. Sponsored by the Randolph County Health Department and Asheboro Parks and Recreation. Call 318-6198 for more information.

Central United Methodist Church is holding their annual Children's Consignment Sale on Friday, September 19th from 5:30 - 8:30pm and the half price sale on Saturday, September 20th from 8:30 - 11:00am. The sale will take place in the Family Life Center at the church on South Main Street in Asheboro.

The Red Cross is offering baby sitting training courses for 11- to 15-year-olds on Saturday, November 15th. Pre-registration is required and the fee is $45.00 which includes a Sitters Handbook, Red Cross Emergency Guide and a CD-ROM. Youngsters interested in baby sitting can be Red Cross trained.
